National Junior Honor Society

NPS National Junior Honor Society/Community Service Form

Entry into the National Junior Honor Society is based on five pillars: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character and Citizenship.  Seventh and Eighth grade students are welcomed to apply for membership to the NPS National Junior Honor Society if they meet the following criteria:

Scholarship
  • Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 90 or higher for the first three quarters of the current academic year.

Service

  •  Students must complete a minimum of 12 hours of approved community service.
  • Service hours are valid from July through March of each year.
  • Students must track their service hours on their own and have a supervising adult (not a parent) verify the hours by either signing off on the hours on the Community Service Verification form OR providing the student with a letter or email.
  • If you have any questions as to the appropriateness of your service project, please see Mrs. Mezzanotte for pre-approval.

Leadership

  • Students must demonstrate that they are leaders and record their leadership roles on the Leadership Verification form.
  • Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.

Character

  • Students must demonstrate that they have reputable character -  they are cooperative; demonstrate high standards of honesty and reliability; show courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and maintain a respectable attendance and disciplinary record.

Citizenship

  • Students must demonstrate citizenship by following school rules and local local/state laws.
  • Students demonstrate mature participation and responsibility in activities such as scouting, community organizations, or school clubs.

Please contact Mrs. Mezzanotte- [email protected]- if you are interested in applying and in need of the code to join the NJHS Google Classroom.  All forms are located in the NJHS Google Classroom and this is where applicants will submit all required materials.  

All application materials must be submitted on the NJHS Google Classroom by March 29, 2024.
Students receive their NJHS application results at the end of April. 

The NJHS Induction Ceremony is generally held in the evening in Mid-May.
